“Sépales” Sarah COHEN [FRANCE]
“Sepal” is presented as a semi-open veil, enveloping a void. The word Sepal comes from the Greek skepê "protection", "cover". The sepals are part of the elements that make up a flower, their function is to protect the young flower buds. The imprint left after the past storm represents the movement of the wind, that of the 2019 typhoon on the island of Oshima during which my paper's shapes have been altered, transformed and impacted by wind and air... To replay this meeting of natural elements, I chose to work with paper, water and maybe copper. The fragility of paper is like a body and contrasts with the durability of copper, an element present in our environment.
